I can't believe little MG is already 2! We had her b-day on the 27th and then continued celebrating with even more presents on Sunday (her actual b-day). She had so much fun at her b-day party and loved opening her presents. I am glad that we did not open presents in front of our guests because she started asking "What's next?" after each gift!!

We got a bubble machine to use for her b-day party and tried it out a few days before. I wish we would have one all summer- the best $25 I have ever spent.

Being silly with a Snow White costume- this is the skirt which she calls a tutu and loves to put over her head and then she says she is wearing a raincoat!!???

When I picked MG up today from MMO, she had her best report yet!! She had absolutely no tears today. I am so glad that she has transitioned better than we thought she was going to.

MG got a great report from her MMO (Mother's Morning Out) teacher today! I went to pick her up at 10:15 and I passed the assistant teacher in the hall and she said that MG was doing great so just to come back at the pick up time!!! I am so proud of her.

Here are some pictures from her new big girl room. I still don't have the bed skirt in yet and we need to hang some pics but for the most part we are finished.

The dress in the shadow box is the one that MG wore for her picture in the hospital!

MG's First Day of Mother's Morning Out

MG's first day was actually last Thursday but I did not get the pictures uploaded until today.

How did it go, you ask.....Let's put it this way, when I went to pick her up the teacher started by saying, "I'm not going to lie...." Needless to say, she is having major separation anxiety issues! They moved her to a smaller class on Tuesday and she only stayed half the time (because she was crying so hard that she was gasping for air) so we are hoping that she will slowly but surely adjust. I do want to mention that both times I went to pick her up she was not crying when I got there and seemed to be doing fine.

We are only going to take her for an hour this Thursday and then work up to the full time in 15 minute increments. Her new teacher was much more supportive and said that same thing happened last year and within a month the child was fine. As long as she is adjusted by Oct. 22, I will be ok.

What do you get when you put about 12 two and three year olds together in a class for ballet, tap and some tumbling? Some crying (MG and about 2 or 3 other little girls) and mass chaos (the entire class).

MG was so excited about going to this dance class! We bought the ballet and tap shoes, tights and a leotard. When we got there all she could talk about was how she was ready to dance but when the mommies started clearing the room- the tears came flooding. I had to sit in there with her and we did not participate in any ballet or tap. However, when it came time for tumbling MG snapped out of it (Dan says she has the thighs of a gymnast anyway-ha!). She did somersaults and then stretched and danced to music at the end. I guess we will try again next week, but I am not sure she is old enough quite yet.

These pictures were obviously taken before the tears started and I was holding her most of the time so these were all the pictures that I got.

Sorry I have not posted lately. We have been out of town so much (mostly for weddings) that I am lucky to get the clothes washed before we are packing again.

A couple of weeks ago we went to New Orleans for Dan's insurance meeting. We stayed with my college friend Emily and had a great time with her 2 little boys- Oliver and Lachlan.

Last weekend Dan went to Dallas the whole weekend for a friend's wedding (I met up with him on Sat. but stayed in Paris with MG the rest of the time).

The Wednesday after we got back from Jenny and Corey's wedding, we went to Missouri with my Dad and his side of the family. Surprisingly, MG did really well on the ride there and on the ride back (considering we had just gotten back from TX). Debi and I took her to the Disney Store and she went nuts!!! She was walking around the store with her arms full of stuff!!
Then on Sunday we went for her first boat ride at Sardis Lake. She loved riding but was not crazy about swimming in the lake (which I don't blame her because the water does look really dirty).
On Monday we took the crib rail off the front of her bed and made it into a toddler bed AKA "BIG GIRL BED". She has done really well so far. She climbs in and lays down and doesn't get out until we go in her room to get her and then she crawls back out! I wonder how long this will last before we catch her roaming around the house. I took a video of her showing us how to get in the bed and I will try to post it later.

We went to Jenny and Corey's wedding last weekend!! We had such a good time and the wedding was perfect. Jenny was beautiful and Maddie Grace had fun dancing at the reception.

Last weekend we took MG to Memphis to the Children's Museum. Her favorite part were the slides at all the different stations! She also liked doing some grocery shopping on her own. Then on Monday they had an Ole Miss Alumni Assoc. event at the Indoor Practice Facility. I think there were 500 kids running around on the practice field.

I think she is trying to tell us we need to get a pool!!!

Maddie Grace is talking so much now that I thought I would share some of her favorite phrases (Dan and I need to start writing everything down because its hard to remember everything).

"Oh my gosh"
"Oh goodness"
"What's mommy (daddy, Lily, CiCi, Bon Bon, whoever she is thinking about) doing?"
"Dear Gosh (translation...God), thank you for mommy, daddy, lily, maddie grace" The list goes on and on but includes our whole family and their pets.
"What you want Lily?" (she squats down and looks at Lily in the face- she loves giving Lily treats)

These are just a few of our favorites that we hear multiple times throughout the day.

We went to Destin for the Mississippi Insurance Convention last week. Maddie Grace loved the pool, but hated the sand. She liked to go sit on the beach chair and watch everyone else playing in the sand but she refused to have her feet actually touch it!! She does not like to be dirty (she is my child after all) so sand is out of the question. Granny (Dan's grandmother) came with us and Dan's dad was there for the convention too.

It was traumatic, but it had to happen at some point!!! Maddie Grace was running (fast- as she would say) outside on the driveway and landed on her knees. She got up and never cried, but she did want me to kiss her knees. She never even noticed that one of them was bleeding!

MG tried pizza with daddy for the first time a couple of weeks ago so we ordered pizza Friday night and MG loved it. She thought it was more fun to eat it backwards- crust first! Then Sat. morning we went to Graham Sherman's 2nd b-day party. Elizabeth made the castle out of cardboard boxes- it was really cute!

I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to give an update. My dad, Debi, Paw-paw, Uncle Brian, Aunt Marsha and cousin Cody all came for a visit the weekend of Feb. 16 Maddie Grace had fun showing them all her new tricks and playing with her toys. She and Paw-paw played some ball outside (he looks mighty spry, doesn't he??) and my dad and I took her to storytime.
On Sunday of last week we had to go to Port Gibson for Dan's great aunt Mary Lea's funeral. It was sad, but an active 1 year old definitely lightens the mood. She got to play with Walker Lambiotte while the actual funeral ceremony was taking place. Here are some new pics of our little ham, Maddie Grace (everytime we pull the camera out she gives a cheesy grin).

On Saturday after storytime at Square Books Jr., we took Maddie Grace to the toy store and got her a stroller for her babies! She loves it. The only problem is that it is not big enough for all of her babies- she has gone crazy over her baby dolls.

We had another great weekend at home!! Saturday morning I took Maddie Grace to story time at Square Books Jr. I don't think she looked at the Storyteller once- she was too busy watching the little girl next to her with 5 cookies stacked on her fingers. I guess the girl noticed because she went to the snack table and brought one over to MG!! Then Saturday night we went to the basketball game and she had a blast. She was clapping with the crowd and dancing with the music. Afterwards we went to dinner with Meg, Ben and William Harris and with Jane Claire, Nason and Alex Williams. MG loved watching the babies!

We went to church on Sunday, and for the first time MG did not cry when we left her in the nursery!!

Wow, Christmas was a whirlwind!! We were in Port Gibson (seeing Dan's family) two nights, Alexandria, LA one night (seeing my grandfather), Shreveport one night (seeing my mom's side of the family) and then MG and I went on to Paris to see my mom and to visit with my dear friend Anne and her baby, Cate. We had so much fun seeing everyone but we were happy to be home again. Happy New Year to you all! MG in her new ball pit Golf anyone? The first picture is her very first time to brush and she cried when I took the toothbrush away! Daddy missed the first time so she showed him what a big girl she was the next day (notice she has to carry the toothpaste around too).

Today Maddie Grace is 13 months old and we went to the Memphis Zoo with her for the first time. She was really more into running around than looking at the animals but she still had fun! We watched the Sea Lions put on a show, the polar bears swim around, and the panda bears sleep! I think she liked the sno-cone the best.
